CAQA Corridor Logistics
CAQA Corridor Logistics is a third-party logistics provider that stores, picks, packs and moves freight for manufacturers, importers, retailers and primary producers across south-eastern Australia. The business runs a 22,000 square metre ambient and temperature controlled distribution centre, a fleet of rigid and heavy combination vehicles, and a rail intermodal terminal that lifts containers between road and the interstate rail network. Customers range from a national beverage brand with daily store deliveries to a regional timber supplier that needs two loads a week. Corridor also holds a small volume of packaged dangerous goods for a pharmaceutical client, which shapes much of its safety system.
The business is organised into six departments across three sites. Warehouse Operations runs the Dandenong South distribution centre on two shifts, day (6:00 am to 2:30 pm) and afternoon (2:00 pm to 10:30 pm), with a skeleton night crew for inbound containers. Road Freight and Fleet allocates drivers and vehicles from Dandenong South and the Albury-Wodonga depot. The Rail and Intermodal Terminal at Altona North operates from 5:00 am to midnight, six days a week, around the arrival and departure of scheduled trains. Customer Service and Freight Planning, Safety, Compliance and Training, and Business Support are based at head office and support every site.
Corridor manages quality, safety and compliance through a documented management system built around the Work Health and Safety Act, the Heavy Vehicle National Law and its Chain of Responsibility duties, the Australian Dangerous Goods Code and the Rail Safety National Law. Every worker completes a site induction, holds the high risk work licence or verification of competency for the plant they operate, and reports hazards through the incident register. Drivers work under a fatigue risk management system with electronic work diaries. The business runs monthly toolbox talks, quarterly internal audits, a customer complaints process with a five day response target, and an annual management review that sets the next year's safety and service objectives.
