Rail and Intermodal Terminal
Operates the Altona North terminal: receiving and delivering containers by road, lifting containers on and off rail wagons with reach stackers, maintaining container records, and working safely inside the rail corridor under the terminal's safeworking rules.
What the team is accountable for
- Gate in and gate out containers with condition and seal checks
- Plan and perform container lifts to and from scheduled rail services
- Maintain container location and status records
- Apply rail corridor access and safeworking procedures
- Inspect reach stackers and terminal tractors each shift
- Coordinate with the rail operator on train arrivals and departures

Manages the Altona North terminal and its interface with the rail operator, and has worked in rail freight terminals for fourteen years.
Where the work is recorded
Consignment Board
Tracks every freight booking from order to proof of delivery, including the allocated vehicle, delivery window, exceptions and complaints.
Incident and Hazard Register
The safety register for injuries, near misses, hazards, vehicle incidents, dangerous goods events and Chain of Responsibility events, with investigation and corrective action tracking.
Fleet and Plant Register
Records every truck, trailer, forklift and reach stacker with its pre-start status, service due dates, defects and roadworthiness.
