Receive and put away an inbound container
You are a Receiving Officer on the day shift at the Dandenong South distribution centre.
What has happened
A forty foot container of Kingfisher Beverages sparkling water arrives at dock 3 at 9:30 am. The consignment note shows twenty pallets of sixty cartons each, but the customer purchase order on the consignment board shows twenty-two pallets. Two of the pallets on the container have leaning stacks and one has a torn wrap. The driver wants to leave within forty-five minutes. The last two Kingfisher containers were short delivered, so the Warehouse Operations Manager has asked for a careful count and clear records. Forklift FL-18 is available and FL-11 is tagged out.
Deliverables
- Completed stock register records for all pallets received, including the three quarantined pallets
- Annotated consignment note showing the count and the shortage
- Forklift pre-start record in the fleet register
- A short shift note to the team leader describing the exceptions and who was informed

Evidence guide
Look for an accurate pallet and carton count that matches the exceptions recorded, a consignment note annotated before sign off, quarantine records with photographs and a clear description, and put-away confirmations that respect the bay directions. The student must show they followed the traffic rules and completed the forklift pre-start, and that they reported the shortage to the right people on the same shift.
