CAQA Corridor Logistics is a third-party logistics provider that stores, picks, packs and moves freight for manufacturers, importers, retailers and primary producers across south-eastern Australia.
CAQA Corridor Logistics, warehousing, road freight, rail and supply chain
CAQA Corridor Logistics is a third-party logistics provider that stores, picks, packs and moves freight for manufacturers, importers, retailers and primary producers across south-eastern Australia. The business runs a 22,000 square metre ambient and temperature controlled distribution centre, a fleet of rigid and heavy combination vehicles, and a rail intermodal terminal that lifts containers between road and the interstate rail network. Customers range from a national beverage brand with daily store deliveries to a regional timber supplier that needs two loads a week. Corridor also holds a small volume of packaged dangerous goods for a pharmaceutical client, which shapes much of its safety system.
The business is organised into six departments across three sites. Warehouse Operations runs the Dandenong South distribution centre on two shifts, day (6:00 am to 2:30 pm) and afternoon (2:00 pm to 10:30 pm), with a skeleton night crew for inbound containers. Road Freight and Fleet allocates drivers and vehicles from Dandenong South and the Albury-Wodonga depot. The Rail and Intermodal Terminal at Altona North operates from 5:00 am to midnight, six days a week, around the arrival and departure of scheduled trains. Customer Service and Freight Planning, Safety, Compliance and Training, and Business Support are based at head office and support every site.
Safety before schedule
No delivery window, customer or manager is worth an injury. Any worker will stop a task they believe is unsafe and the business will back that decision.
Accuracy
A pallet in the wrong bay or a missing consignment note costs the customer money and trust. Every scan, count and signature is done properly the first time.
Straight talking
Customers and colleagues hear the truth early, including when a load will be late, so that they can plan around it.
Shared responsibility
Chain of Responsibility is not a slogan. Schedulers, loaders, drivers and managers each own their part of a safe journey.
Services and operations
To move our customers' goods safely, accurately and on time so that their businesses can rely on us without a second thought.
Contract warehousing
Ambient and temperature controlled pallet storage, receival, put-away, cycle counting and stock reporting for customers who want their inventory managed inside a bonded, secure distribution centre.
Pick, pack and despatch
Order picking to carton and pallet level, labelling, wrapping and staging for customer collection or Corridor delivery, with a same-day cut-off of 1:00 pm for metropolitan orders.
Metropolitan and regional road freight
Rigid and heavy combination deliveries across Melbourne, Geelong, Gippsland and the Hume corridor, run under a documented Chain of Responsibility and fatigue management system.
Rail intermodal transfer
Container receival, lifting, storage and delivery at the Altona North terminal, connecting road customers to scheduled interstate rail services to Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.
Dangerous goods storage and transport
Segregated storage and placarded transport of packaged dangerous goods in classes 3, 8 and 9 for licensed customers, with trained handlers and compliant transport documentation.
Supply chain planning
Route optimisation, safety stock reviews, stocktake supervision and reporting for customers who want a logistics partner to manage inventory levels and delivery performance on their behalf.
Six departments, one workplace
Each department has a purpose, a lead, responsibilities, performance measures and the systems it works in. Students are placed in a department by their scenario.
